Radio, what’s new? Posted by Diana October 21st, 2009

So, while Amanda and I were sitting around eating bonbons, Liz and Dan went to California to whip up some frenzy on The Kids are All Right Tour of 2009! In other words, they did two readings – one in LA and one in San Fransisco. And a kick-ass interview!

Check out Liz and Dan on the Radio!

Then watch this video, because, Radio? Someone still loves you! Don’t forget your headphones if you’re at work.

While they were in San Fransisco, Liz and Dan stayed with an old friend from Bedford, Terry Gumz, who was of great help to Liz and me while we spent one August in our hometown researching the book. Terry very kindly invited us to join her at the Club (The Bedford, Golf & Tennis Club, natch) for a careening golf cart ride and great conversation, aided by a pitcher of Southsides, the Club’s signature cocktail.

That afternoon was easily the most fun we had while we were back in that town. It certainly topped the walk I went on with Dan and Liz and the dogs, during which time I stepped on a nest of yellow jackets. Motherfuckers bit me 28 times on the head. I was running around ripping off my clothes until I was just in my underwear and knee socks, screaming “Why won’t somebody help me?!?” Meanwhile, my older brother and sister had a good laugh.

That’s right.

Now if they were here to explain themselves, Dan and Liz would tell you that they didn’t know I was getting stung, and just thought that I was, oh, I guess just running around the woods, screaming and ripping my clothes off They finally realized what was happening and came to my aid, gingerly plucking the bees off one by one. Chuckling all the while, those two.

Anyway, thanks to Terry Gumz for being so fun and generous with her time!!

While in LA, Liz and Dan spent the night at the House of Choa, where live two beautiful young maidens and a very cute dog. I saw a picture of Liz and Dan smiling with all three of these things on Facebook, and they all looked really happy. Sue Choa is one of Amanda’s best friends from college, and I was absolutely in love with her when I was little. She had a peroxide streak in her hair that I thought was the absolute living end.

And, for the record, Amanda and I weren’t eating bon bons at all. We were actually both pining away all weekend, because it’s so much freaking fun when we are all together.

I can’t wait for Thanksgiving.
